FISHERIES TRAINING CENTER

         

There is one fisheries training center at state level located at capital head quarter Raipur. 6 month training of aquaculture is imparted to those enthusiast farmers who are tenth class passed and eager to take of fish culture for self employment. Annually tow batches are run each with capacity of 20 candidate. First batch is run from 16 January to 15 July, and Second batch is run from 16 July to 15 January.

 

          The training charges are as such:-

Fisheries Research

 

          Research is back bone of fisheries development with changing trends research need to be addressed for a holostic approach success in introducing aquaculture poor farming communities have to be studied with reference to special ecological, economic and sociological condition to get sustainable development of fisheries evolution of scientific methods of under standing soil and water quality and hydro biological and physico chemicals condition of the available water recourses are being conducted. Research unit established at Raipur also suggest measures to solved the problems of piscicultural activities being faced by the fish farmers. Assistant Research Officer, 2 research assistant conduct fishery research.

"SRIMATHI BILASABAI KEWATIN PURASKAR"

The first meeting of Fisheries Development Advisory Board was held on 29-01-2003, chaired by the Chief Minister. At this meeting the Chief Minister declared an annual prize in the fisheries development sector in the memory of Mrs. Bilasabai Kewatin. This prize of Rs. 1.00 lakh cash will be given annually to an individual/institution/Registered Fishermen Co-operative society which has done extraordinary work with outstanding results in the field of Fisheries Development in the State.

          For selection of Best Pisciculturist at District level, a Selection committee headed by the Collector and State Level Selection Committee headed by the Agriculture Production Commissioner have been organised. Final selection has to be done at the State level from those recommended by the district level committees.
